Answers to our most frequently asked questions.
What are the Opening Times? The Restaurant is open every day, excluding our annual period of closure from mid-December to mid-January.
When is Lunch served? Lunch is served 7 days each week, from 12.15pm with last orders taken at 1.45pm. We begin lunch service just before Easter each year, until end of October. Please telephone for precise dates, if required.
When is Dinner served? Dinner is served from 6.30pm with last orders taken at 9.30pm. We serve Dinner every evening from when we open in mid-January until we close after breakfast on Sunday 3rd December 2017. We re-open in mid-January 2018.
Do you serve Afternoon Tea? We regret we do not offer Afternoon Tea to non-residents. Those staying overnight with us in The House Over-By will be served a welcome tea tray with home baking upon arrival.
What about specific dietary requirements? Head Chef Scott Davies and all his kitchen brigade embrace individual dietary requirements as a creative and culinary challenge. We really appreciate advance notification through our Reception Team at the point of booking. We make every effort to provide exciting choices for Vegetarians and other dietary preferences. We are also ready to help and advise with food allergies and intolerances.
Are Table Reservations necessary? Reservations for tables in the Restaurant are essential for both Lunch and Dinner, due to our remote location. These must be reconfirmed the day before you are due to dine with us, at the latest. Please note, those reserving accommodation with us in The House Over-By are automatically allocated a table in the Restaurant. If you are not staying with us, please Book A Table.
Do you offer terms for Exclusive Use? We are a small establishment, but are very happy to discuss this with you on a one-to-one basis. We cannot accommodate very large parties in the restaurant which is split between two distinctive dining areas. Do you provide a Wedding Facilities? We do not hold a licence for wedding ceremonies to be conducted on the premises, but we are very happy to assist you with your plans for a Skye wedding. We can offer exclusive use of our accommodation and cater for your wedding breakfast, but only for a limited number of guests. Please do not hesitate to email Sarah@threechimneys.co.uk to make further enquiries. We are also a perfect honeymoon destination!
Is there a Dress Code? Our dress code is smart casual, as we know most people are on holiday. Gentlemen are not required to wear a jacket and tie, but vests, shorts and flip-flops may be regarded as inappropriate attire, particularly by your fellow diners!
Are Children Welcome? Children over 8 years old are very welcome to dine with their parents in the evenings. For family parties with very young children, we recommend booking at lunchtime which is slightly more informal.
Is there a Minimum Charge for Children? Every child taking a seat in the restaurant will be charged a minimum of £25.00, regardless of their choice of food and drink consumed, or not consumed. We have a high-chair available. We regret the Restaurant has limited space between tables and we cannot accommodate buggies and baby carriers. We have excellent baby-changing facilities.
Is there a Children’s Menu? Please note, we do not have a specific children's menu, but we are happy to adapt dishes to suit younger tastes, if requested.
What about Children staying in The House Over-By? For children under 8 years of age, who are staying with us overnight, we can serve a children's tea in The House Over-By at 5.30pm. We can provide advice on excellent local baby-sitters.
Can you recommend alternative places to stay nearby? Of course we can and we are very happy to do so! Please telephone the Reception Team on 01470 511258 for more information.
Is there a Local Taxi Service? Yes there are local taxis available. We can provide details and advice on travelling to and from the Restaurant if you contact us direct on 01470 511258.
How do I Reserve Accommodation? If you are interested to stay with us, please Book A Room. Alternatively, telephone 01470 511258 to discuss your dates and requirements.
Can I arrange Champagne or other Special Gifts? Our Reception Team is here to ensure that your stay is a memorable one. If you are joining us to celebrate a special occasion and require any specific touches arranged to make your stay all the more personal, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance. This could be anything from Champagne on ice in your room upon arrival, a bouquet of flowers, or help with reserving something such as a guided walk, or a boat trip. The list is endless, so please just ask. We are always very happy to help.
Are Dogs Allowed? Regrettably, other than Assistance Dogs, family pets are not allowed in The Restaurant nor to stay in the Bedrooms in The House Over-By. We can recommend dog-friendly accommodation in Skye on request.
Do you provide Laundry Facilities? Unfortunately, we are too remote to provide laundry or dry-cleaning facilities. Our rooms are equipped with an iron and ironing board.
Can I store my bicycle safely? The House Over-By car park is private and very safe overnight. If you wish, we can keep bicycles indoors, but we are limited with space.
Do you have drying facilities for walking gear? Yes, we can assist you with drying wet-weather gear and walking boots overnight.
Do you have local maps and information? We have a wide selection of local information of all kinds in our Reception area, for our house guests to browse through and borrow for the day. Our Reception Team can also provide local information and advice on many things, or suggest ideas for places to visit and activities on the island.
Do you have Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is free for our guests and customers throughout the premises. Mobile signal may be patchy while you are travelling, but we have direct dial telephones in our bedrooms and make no charge for local or UK calls.
